Merlin Tech is a family-owned web development and hosting company that opened in August of 1997. Principle owners are John Olinik and Mick Olinik, with offices located in Asheville, North Carolina and Traverse City, Michigan.

Our product and service offerings include web site design, web and print graphic design, web application development, hosting services, general consultation and ongoing technical support. Our current emphasis is the use of techniques defined in the widely acclaimed Web 2.0 directive and standards defined by W3C.

There are several companies that we partner with to perform contract work and ongoing services. These services include enterprise level graphics, advanced Linux support, and 24/7 monitored hosting servers.

Merlin Tech works locally with clients in Michigan and North Carolina, and has developed a remote client base in countries including the United States, Great Britain, France and New Zealand. We effectively communicate with our remote clients through Basecamp by 37 Signals, as well as Skype and AIM. We have advanced our business by following Internet trends and adapting our development strategies accordingly. Our coding skillset over the years has encompassed CGI/Perl, ASP/VBScript/Access, and most recently PHP/MySQL. We have also progressed in our product offerings from creating our own CMS (Content Management System) and E-Commerce to our current offerings which focus primarily on Wordpress and e-commerce platforms X-Cart and LiteCommerce by Qualiteam. These systems have been specifically chosen for their ease-of-use, functionality, and overall quality.

Our expertise within the organization is split between Mick and John. Mick specializes in W3C web standards-aware web development, graphic design, search engine optimization, and Wordpress installation & configuration. John specializes in database application programming and customized changes written primarily in a PHP/MySQl environment. He also has experience in XML messaging using PHP SOAP and WSDL.

Merlin Tech operates its own dedicated web servers. We provide multi-leveled services where customers can manage their web content and email lists. Additionally, we provide a la carte technical support and web maintenance services on an hourly basis.
